M1 Recording Studio : Symphonic Hall

The symphonic hall is the arena in which orchestras and symphonic concert performances are recorded. Whilst walking through M1 one can almost hear the walls exuding sounds of grandeur and majesty.  The studio side is approximately 1000 square meter partly wooden partly melamine flooring. M1 studio was recently upgraded and the new equipment includes the Sony DMX R100 mixer plus Control 24 with ProTools More Info

M2 Recording Studio:

Our M2 Studio is one of the most professionally equipped music recording facilities in the southern hemisphere, with over 300 square metres of floor space in Studio A and 25 square metres in Studio B.

The control room accoustics and monitoring were designed and installed by Andy Monroe, resulting in the truest, purest sound quality More Info

M3 Recording Studio:

The studio where the infamous TDK sessions were recorded and broadcast live on 5FM with the aim of supporting and exposing South African music.

Independent musicians use this studio for professional recordings, where they have the assurance and peace of mind that their projects are treated with the highest respect. They also have the advantage of state of the art equipment at their fingertips.

In 2003 the studio control room had a face lift similar to M1 studio. It is surround sound ready with B&W 602 monitors and features Custom built D/A converters. More Info

M4 Recording Studio : RAP Studio

The facilities in M4 are continuously utilised by Radio Active Production (RAP), where radio advertisements are produced for commercial use.

M5 Recording Studio:

Our M5 studio is equipped with a 1975 Vintage NEVE mixing Console with the World Famous 1095Mic Pre-Amp/EQ modules (these babies are still “Discrete”!!!) More Info

DEMO Recordings:

RBF now offers a preproduction and demo recording studio. The studio was created in conjunction with Openroom Productions and aims to give up and coming bands and musicians the opportunity to record in a professional studio environment and learn professional recording techniques at a much more affordable rate. The Studio is ProTools equipped and is therefore also the ideal place for musicians to do preproduction work and then still transfer files across to one of the bigger ProTools HD studios that RBF has to offer.

Drama Studios:

Radio drama has always been the theatre of the mind. In our drama studios we are able to accommodate any specialised drama production, including live sound effects as well as offering ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ accoustic rooms. If the sound effect does not already exist, we will create it!

Packaging Studios:

RP Studios’ advanced facilities allow for live on air broadcasts, production of document-aries, telephone interviews, link ups with outside broadcast points, and national or international conferences via ISDN or satellite links.

Variety Studios:

Audience participation for quiz shows and variety programmes is made possible here in the Variety Studios. The audiences are encouraged to participate in the shows while recording is in progress to create an atmosphere of a live recording.

Anechoic Chamber:

This room is entirely sound proof and was traditionally used for testing and repairing sound sensitive equipment such as microphones and speakers. Due to the constant changes and advancements in technology, this chamber has now become obsolete.

RBF Gauteng also has studios available in Tshwane … Click here for more information
